Frankenmuth LumberJack Festival
at the Frankenmuth Riverplace
May 28th - May 30th, 2004 IronJack and IronJill Lumberjack Decathalon. The Lumberjack festival featured historical demonstrations, team exhibitions, and competitive challenges.
During the 1800's the timber industry was in full bloom in Michigan (especially in Saginaw Valley and the Frankenmuth Area). Rugged lumberjacks toiled to keep up with our growing nation's demand for lumber. Competitions among lumberjacks were commonplace in each small lumbering town.
The Historical Associations of Saginaw County and Frankenmuth joined forces with the Frankenmuth River Place to present this first annual event.
The Festival also featured a sand sculpting contest in Edwin Zehnder park.
